About Petroleum Council

In 1972, Amiri Decree No (1) Established the Department of Oil & Minerals established in Sharjah. Later, the department was dissolved, and its functions are transferred to the newly constituted Petroleum Council.

The Petroleum Council in the Emirate of Sharjah is the legal entity responsible for all petroleum affairs in the Emirate. Its regulatory body has legal eligibility for the carrying out of all businesses and actions to achieve its purposes.

Petroleum Council is responsible for devising policies, setting the regulation and principles & implementing procedures to achieve the defined objectives.

The Petroleum Council was constituted to govern all offices, specialists, organizations, and organizations working in the Emirates Petroleum field. It will be committed to executing the council's decision to ensure the accomplishment of the targets.

OBJECTIVES OF PETROLEUM COUNCIL

  • To set up the emirates policies relating to Petroleum.
  • To issue an order for implementing policies for achieving the desired results.
  • To monitor the quantities of petroleum produced in and exported from the Emirate.
  • To give a recommendation to the ruler regarding companies specialized in exploration, drilling, production, and marketing of Petroleum Products.
  • To supervise the operation of companies that have been granted concessions in the Emirate.
